Seasonal wonders

From the Midnight Sun in summer to the Northern Lights in winter—plus stunning sunsets in spring and autumn—Sørfolda delivers breathtaking views in every season.
Fjord & mountain hikes
Hikes with spectacular views, rivers, forest, and waterfalls rushing down every slope. Or just the easy Gammelveien, where Karly's trolls appear along the old route.

Kayaking on the fjord

Calm-water paddles along sheltered shores with frequent chances to spot porpoise (nise) and seabirds. Perfect for mornings or golden hour.
Wild berries & mushrooms

Birdwatching

Keep your eyes up for the white-tailed sea eagle (havørn), coastal seabirds (sjøfugl), grey heron (gråhegre) and a range of waders (vadere). Fjord viewpoints make natural grandstands for sightings.
Artic wildlife
The surrounding forests and shores host moose (elg), roe deer (rådyr), ermines (hermeliner) and the shy otter (oter). We observe quietly and keep a respectful distance.

Bjørklund Gård

Lappvika bay
Swim in the sea or river, kick a ball on the unique sea-view football field, and use the firepan/grill hut—views toward Sjunkhatten National Park and the fjord.

Rørstad
Rørstad is a quiet "open-air museum" now used mainly as summer houses. With no road access, it’s only reachable by boat. Visit the church, or pause for a break on the beach. Fun fact: Linnaeus visited Rørstad in 1732 during his Lapland expedition.
